On Friday, May 6th, over 200 fifth and sixth grade students from Delta Schools visited North Star BlueScope’s Wetlands. During the Wetland Celebration, students participated in different activities that highlighted the importance of the wetland ecosystem. Alloway led an activity called the Maumee River game where students read situational cards and simulated adding pollution to the various tributaries of the Maumee River. It was well received and the students left with a better understanding of how a little pollution affects the entire watershed. Overall, the celebration was a great opportunity to demonstrate to future leaders the importance of protecting our watershed.
